Belgrade City Guide

Getting ready for a trip with kids is busy, fun and requires a lot of preparation and research. It is with great pleasure that we have prepared an insider guide to Belgrade (for a family friendly visit).  Besides the usual top picks, Knez Mihalova pedestrian zone, Kalemegdan park, the ZOO, Nikola Tesla museum, Saint Sava church and others we would like to take you on a stroll of our chosen insider Belgrade family! Special thanks to Vera for her contribution!

The best way to get to know Belgrade is by walking. If you prefer, you can download the “Belgrade Monument App” where you can scan and get information about monuments and historical places around the city.

Breakfast

You have found yourself in Belgrade on a beautiful sunny day with kids who woke up eager to run around and not sit down for a meal? Pick up a few delicious croissants from famous Mandarina (Gracanicka 16) and head to Koffein (Uskocka 8) for a cup of great coffee. Situated in a pedestrian zone of the city center, makes it perfect for kids to play outside while you enjoy the sun, coffee and croissants.

Another breakfast spot (or branch if you prefer to sleep in) would be Pavilion Hotel - a former art deco villa located in Dorcol neighborhood, the oldest surviving neighborhood of Belgrade- the hotel mirrors its specific urban charm and sophisticated mentality. Pavilion Restaurant & Bar offers delicious a la carte breakfast serving a European menu blended with local flavors. Perfect spot for spring/summer breakfast and coffee in the hotel garden.

After breakfast, you can stop by the Hotel’s store Mishka, Serbian brand, which offers unique espadrilles, clogs and bags.

Lunch

Comunale Caffé e Cucina is one of the first restaurants that sparked the transformation of the abandoned and forgotten storages in Beton Hala to a now famous and unavoidable Belgrade dining spot alongside River Sava in the shadows of Belgrade Fortress.

Restaurant offers Italian and Mediterranean cuisine in combination with the finest from Josper grill. This place is sleek and stylish and at the same time perfect spot for family meals.

Sweet tooth

Do not miss the ice cream place Crna Ovca. Handmade production with special attention on each ingredient with minimum amount of sugar.

Their palette of flavors is truly extraordinary and we highly recommend you experiment. Our top picks are: sesame and walnut.

Coffee

In the past years, quality coffee drinking culture has become very popular with local roasted coffee places popping up around the city. Our pick would be Hotel Beograd 1937.

Small place on the street where you can grab your coffee to go or treat yourself with yummy croissants.

Time for play

MoMo Bar & Play is a caffe place with kid’s playground located in the city part called Vracar, just behind the Church of Saint Sava (a must see). Here you can relax and have a coffee or juice in peace while the kids play in their dedicated space. Perfect spot for kids up to 5years and parents looking for peaceful moment or two.

In the biggest city shopping mall – Galerija located on the riverbank there are 3 kids indoor playground which guarantee family fun: Cosmo kids (amusement park intended for ages 0 to 7 with over 19 different attractions: some of which are the Double slide, Mini Ninja Warriors, Police, Firefighters and Ambulance station for imaginative kids play), Cosmo Fun (intended for kids from ages from 3 to 7 who love all sort of slides) and lastly Cosmo Jump (intended for kids (or adults) from 7+ years with large selection of trampolines, cage ball and foam pit). Perfect place for families and kids looking for fun. Since this mall has the majority of fashion global brands offer it is a spot to combine kids’ fun with shopping.

Mini Garden

Unexpected work came up? Bring your little ones to play in this cozy play café in the heart of the city while you finish up the work leftover over a healthy snack.

Outdoor play

We suggest Kalemegdan and Tasmajdan park in the city center as well as strolls by the river at any of the Belgrade quays!

Shopping

Koncept 45 multi brand store in the Dorcol where you are able to find world brand such as: Anine Bing, Nanushka, GSDC to Serbian designers who are presenting their collections or creating exlucive collaboration just for Koncept 45.

Pieces offered in the shop include modern home décor, fashion pieces and accessories.

If shopping is your passion a Belgrade list cannot go without : Marija Tarlac (and Marija Tarlac mini) and Ines Atelier.

Museums

We strongly believe that it is never to early to expose your children to art.

Museum of Contemporary art, Zepter Museum and National Museum of Serbia for art lovers!

Museum of Illusions for fun lovers!

Night out

If you find yourself in Belgrade without kids- do not forget that Belgrade is known for its rich nightlife and one of the newest editions to it is cabaret club – Lafayette. It is a theater-like performances that take place in a club while guests enjoy dinner. The performances contain musical, acting, dancing points performed by our young talented performers. Unique experience to be shared with friends.

If on the other hand you are looking for a traditional dinner and music experience in Belgrade you can have an earlier (or a very late) night in the Belgrade Bohemian street, Skadarlija. Our tip : Zlatni Bokal.
